Roman Reigns Says WWE Fans Ruined WrestleMania Match

Roman Reigns scowling at the camera

Roman Reigns has slammed WWE fans for influencing a change to WrestleMania 40 main event plans.

‘The Tribal Chief’ vented his anger at fans after original plans to pit him against The Rock at WrestleMania 40 were changed following fan backlash.

Reigns voiced his displeasure at having to defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes for a second WrestleMania running having seen off the challenge of ‘The American Nightmare’ at WrestleMania 39 in Los Angeles.

During a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Reigns hit out at Rhodes followers he described as ‘Cody cry baby fans’, placing the blame for the amended Premium Live Event plans squarely at their door:

“Let’s be honest, if guys my age, that small minority of our WWE wrestling fanbase weren’t a bunch of b*tches crying the whole time, he would have never got that buzz and y’all would have been smitten with The Rock vs. The Tribal Chief.

That’s what it was. That’s the beauty of this business. Things can happen at the drop of a dime and you have to be able to either call an audible or ride that wave that’s coming at you.

For me, that was the end game. Let me just make the final statement, put the stamp of approval, seal the deal. I beat The Rock, ain’t nobody ever questioning what I’ve done here and Cody took that from me.”

McAfee would go on to question the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion as to why he wanted to battle ‘The Great One’ in Philadelphia, with Reigns highlighting the star power the match would bring as the key element:

“It’s two of the greatest Superstars to ever do it. We have one who’s currently dominating Hollywood, the other who is currently dominating WWE. Why wouldn’t you want to put that match together?”

Roman Reigns Shuts Down Suggestions Of Retirement

Pat McAfee would also question Reigns about his wrestling future, with the Pensacola, Florida native having achieved so much already during his 14 year career.

Despite seemingly having little left to achieve, Reigns dismissed suggestions of retiring any time soon and insisting there was still plenty of history to be made.
