Roman Reigns Thinks Highly Of The Shield’s WWE Debut
Roman Reigns believes the debut of The Shield is the greatest Survivor Series moment of all-time.
Typically a Thanksgiving week spectacular, the Survivor Series has always been considered as one of WWE’s ‘Big Four’ Premium Live Events with a long history of memorable moments taking place.
Perhaps most famously, the 1990 incarnation of the event saw the debut of WWE Hall Of Famer The Undertaker as a surprise members of Ted Dibiase’s ‘Million Dollar Team’ in a traditional five versus five elimination match.
Legendary Superstar turned Hollywood sensation The Rock made his debut six years later in New York’s Madison Square Garden whilst the 1997 edition of the pay-per-view saw Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart lose his WWE Championship to Shawn Michaels in a controversial incident that will forever live in folklore as the ‘Montreal Screw Job’.
During a recent appearance on the ‘SI Media With Jimmy Traina‘, Roman Reigns was asked to name the biggest Survivor Series moment of all-time and had little hesitation in selecting the 2012 debut of his former faction, The Shield:
“My career has been so long and I’ve been involved in so much. I debuted at Survivor Series. I don’t even know. I have to go with that. My debut. The Shield’s debut is the most special thing that ever happened at Survivor Series.
There are a lot of really great debuts. It’s odd how many big time debuts happened at Survivor Series. Dwayne (Johnson aka The Rock) was one of them. Undertaker debuted at Survivor Series. Based off how it all shaped out, The Shield debuting was one of the greatest transitional situations of three young talent coming in, taking the company by the neck, and this is what you have today.”
Roman Reigns Dismisses Retirement Rumours
The ‘Original Tribal Chief’ Roman Reigns has enjoyed an incredible twelve-year run on WWE’s main roster and has little more to prove having previously spent 1,316 days as WWE Universal Champion amongst a whole host of accolades in the company that include various title reigns and victory in the 2015 Royal Rumble match.
With a WWE Hall Of Fame worthy career already to his name, many could forgive Reigns for hanging up his boots and focusing on family life.
The Pensacola, Florida native recently revealed that he has no plans to retire any time soon, however. The 39 year-old Superstar believes there are many stories still left to tell in the ring, including many with members of his own family.
