Roman Reigns Urges WWE To “Stick To Our Values And Morals”

Roman Reigns has given his thoughts on WWE Raw moving to Netflix.

Over the last 12 months, change has been blowing through WWE with the company undergoing something of a transformation. With the sports entertainment giant now under the TKO Group umbrella there’s been a great deal of cost-cutting and changes to the management structure.

Meanwhile, Vince McMahon finally left the company in disgrace after being accused to sexual assault and sex trafficking by former employee Janel Grant.

With regard to WWE programming, Raw, SmackDown and NXT will all be on the move in the coming months. NXT is set to debut on the CW Network on October 1st, and SmackDown will move from FOX to the USA Network on September 13th. However, the biggest shift will see WWE Raw jump to Netflix on January 6th, 2025.

Some have suggested that with Raw on Netflix, the product could become edgier, including more swearing, blood and violence.

Roman Reigns Unsure About Rumoured WWE Changes

During an appearance at Bloomberg Power Players New York, Reigns said he actually enjoys the challenge of being PG, adding that it makes business sense to make programming as accessible to to as many people as possible.

If we allow Paul to do Hall of Fame speeches non-stop, we’ll definitely push that envelope but for me, I don’t know. I’ve always enjoyed the challenges of being P.G., and no offense to our predecessors and the people who came before us and the ratings that they revolved around.

But to me, it’s more challenging to be able to tell these stories and then it also allows you a broader audience to connect to, which I just really feel like is always the goal. We wanna reach as many people as possible and I think there’s a fine limit to when you can kind of cross that threshold to where you push people off from the product.

So, I think there’s gonna be a nice little range there that we can play with and push the envelope in certain senses but I think we need to stick to our values and kind of the morals we’ve set in place and the culture that we have now.

Heyman went on to explain that the stories being told on the show will dictate just how far the envelope will be pushed.

It’s all storyline-dependent also. You know, what does the story call for? There are stories on our show that call for a kiss at the end. There are stories on our show that calls for a punch at the end. There are stories on our show that calls for a level of aggression that transcends into violence.

So, it really is storyline-dependent. What is the intensity? What is the purpose? What is the theme of this story that we’re trying to tell?

Since returning to television at SummerSlam, Roman Reigns has been on a collision course with Solo Sikoa and the new Bloodline. Despite his return to television, Reigns hasn’t wrestled since being defeated by Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40.

Heyman hasn’t appeared on WWE television since being attacked by the Bloodline at Madison Square Garden in June.
