Roman Reigns’ WWE Return Feud May Not Be With Seth Rollins

Roman Reigns has been off WWE television since the RAW after WrestleMania 41.

On the Flagship show episode, The OTC confronted Paul Heyman and Seth Rollins, only to be ambushed by Bron Breakker. Ever since, fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of The Tribal Chief.

There is a widespread belief that his first order of business would be to seek revenge on Rollins and Heyman for their betrayal at WrestleMania. However, wrestling analyst Sam Roberts has a different take on who Reigns might target upon his return.

Sam Roberts Suggests Roman Reigns’ Return Feud Could Involve Drew McIntyre, Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, or John Cena Instead of Rollins

On a recent episode of the Notsam Wrestling podcast, Roberts threw out an intriguing alternate possibility. He said:

“Maybe if Roman Reigns is coming back, maybe Drew McIntyre is the one that has a problem with Roman Reigns,” Roberts said. “Maybe if Roman Reigns is coming back before SummerSlam, maybe Drew’s going to beat Randy [Orton], and he wants Roman at SummerSlam.”

“Maybe Randy is going to fight Roman Reigns. Who knows? But you’ve got everybody involved in this thing with Randy, Drew, Cody, and Cena. There is more than enough room for every single one of those four to want to fight Roman Reigns.” [43:25 – 44:01]

This shifts the focus from an obvious revenge angle with Rollins to a potentially fresh feud. Drew McIntyre, who has long carried a grudge against The Bloodline, may finally get his shot at Reigns.

McIntyre has blamed The Tribal Chief and his family for interfering in high-stakes matches and robbing him of championship opportunities. Now that he’s once again near the top of the card, a clash with Reigns could be inevitable.

On the other hand, Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes also present intriguing scenarios. The Viper has never had a major one-on-one feud with Reigns since The Tribal Chief’s ascent. The American Nightmare, meanwhile, may revive his feud with Roman Reigns if the latter tries to overshadow his pursuit of gold.

All of this is layered under the massive shadow cast by current Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena. If The Last Real Champion remains a champion heading into SummerSlam, then a match with Reigns could very well headline the event. After all, Reigns is always after the gold, and a win over Cena would reestablish his dominance in WWE.
