Roman Reigns Addresses His WWE Future

On the brink of another WrestleMania main event, Roman Reigns has addressed his wrestling future and why nobody else in WWE can get a schedule like him.

The main event of WrestleMania 39 Night Two takes place later this evening with Roman Reigns defending the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Roman Reigns.

For Reigns, it’s the third year in a row that he’s defending the Universal Championship. One year ago at WrestleMania 38, Reigns became the WWE Champion as well, so he’s been defending both titles since then.

In the past year, Roman Reigns started working a limited schedule. After more than ten years on the main WWE roster and a main event role for the last eight years, Reigns is working less than he used to. That means no live events with a few exceptions, he only appears on TV a few times a month and there are fewer televised matches too.

Part of the reason that Reigns also gets plenty of time off WWE TV is that he is a married father with five kids including two sets of twin boys. Needless to say, he’s a busy man.

During an interview with Ariel Helwani of BT Sport, Roman Reigns was asked about his wrestling future as well as the current pace that he’s on.

“At this pace, I take good care of myself. As long as it makes sense, I feel good. I’ll be 38 in a couple of months. I still feel like I can probably push to definitely 45 if I wanted to, I don’t need to, but really it’s about what is available, the art.”

“Whether it’s the accolades chasing; 1000 days, great. Let’s do 1500, okay, cool. 2000, or it’s ‘No, no, no,’ there is something that is pulling me, ‘I have to do this, I have to create this, I have to put this on camera. I have to build this dynamic or rivalry.’ If something like that comes along, then that will motivate me as well.”

As the interview continued, Roman Reigns was asked if he’s going to take some time off any time soon.

“No, I love my set up. They can all say what they want. Every single one of them would take my deal if they could get it. They just can’t get it. They’ll get a big fat ‘no’ and there this nothing they can do about it. They can say what they want. Seth (Rollins), any of them, Seth would take my deal. He’d take my dates. He’d love to get my money. It’s not for him. It’s the Tribal Chief set up. That’s just the way it is.”

Reigns was asked if there was jealousy from his peers.

“I don’t make myself available to it. It’s one of those things where, if it was happening, I would hear about it, and if it was happening, I would invite it to my face, and it would never come.”
