Roman Reigns Believes The Bloodline Would Be Different In WWE Attitude Era

Roman Reigns feels that if The Bloodline was in another era of WWE, they would be presented a lot differently.

The Bloodline storyline has been a major part of WWE programming since Roman Reigns aligned with Paul Heyman in August 2020. Heyman recently called The Bloodline story the greatest storyline in pro wrestling history.

While the claims of Heyman could be argued by some people, most WWE fans seem to be enjoying The Bloodline story that has incorporated dozens of wrestlers in the storyline whether they have been allies of Reigns or rivals of the group.

As WWE’s biggest star of this era, The Bloodline story has revolved around Roman Reigns whether he was in the ring or sitting at home. His name is constantly mentioned because of the presence he brings.

During an interview with Sports Illustrated’s media podcast, Roman Reigns spoke about how if this was the Attitude Era of WWE, The Bloodline group wouldn’t be presented in the same way.

“Their product for the time, they didn’t make the rules, they weren’t the ones with the boundaries of the ratings. They had a lot more freedom. I always think how cool would it be if the Bloodline was sitting in strip club drinking whiskey and talking in the shadows.”

What Roman Reigns was referencing above is how a group like the APA’s Bradshaw & Faarooq (Ron Simmons) were presented in the Attitude Era as beer drinkers who played poker.

Roman Reigns: “There Are Different Ways To Adult These Things Up”

Since WWE Monday Night Raw is moving to Netflix on January 6th, many people are wondering if there will be more adult content in WWE instead of the PG product that they currently have. In the opinion of Reigns, it’s important to know your limits of current WWE compared to the Attitude Era days.

“There are different ways to adult these things up. At the end of the day, they had to go out there and perform and put their bodies on the line. They had to go out there and there had to be continuity to their storytelling and they had to create elements where the characters are bouncing off of each other.”

Their rules were a lot looser, which kind of makes it a little easier, in some regard, but you have to keep that, I don’t know if it’s a moral compass, but how far is too far? There is a weird responsibility to try and toe that line.”

In the same interview, Roman Reigns made it clear he’s not thinking about retirement while also speaking about the special connection he has with WWE fans.
