Roman Reigns Rejected Stephanie McMahon’s “Cheap” Pitches In WWE

Stephanie McMahon has explained why she couldn’t get Roman Reigns to accept the “cheap” pitches she made for him in WWE.

Roman Reigns has spent the last five years on top of WWE, both as the hated Tribal Chief and now as the beloved OTC. For five years before that, Reigns was clearly WWE’s choice of next top guy, but the fans continued to reject Reigns.

To try and help matters, he was put up against perhaps the most hated WWE villain of all time, Stephanie McMahon, as she ran The Authority with her husband, Triple H. This put Reigns and McMahon in the ring together on plenty of occasions, and it seems she was doing everything she could to help Reigns get as far as he wanted to go.

Speaking on What’s Your Story? Stephanie McMahon explained why she felt she could never get through to Roman Reigns as he insisted on doing things his own way, something she came to respect:

One of the things that was always so different about you was when we were working together, I would always try and give you cheap lines like easy, “go stay in the kitchen,” stereotypical type stuff and you never wanted to do it. And I’d always be like “Oh, it would get such a big reaction, it would work!”

But it was never comfortable for you to do that and I always respected so much that you wanted to do it your own way. I always felt that I couldn’t get through to you, like what am I missing, how can I help him? How can I help get him what he wants? I was the heel obviously and I want you to shine.

During their conversation, Roman Reigns detailed getting in serious trouble with a WWE Hall of Famer and also explained what his relationship with Vince McMahon was really like.
