Roman Reigns Says Only Sami Zayn Could’ve Been The Honorary Uce

Roman Reigns has praised Sami Zayn saying that only a guy like him could have filled the role of the “Honorary Uce” in The Bloodline storyline.

The last year has been the most dominant run in the career of Roman Reigns. It’s been over 900 days since he won the Universal Championship in August 2020 while Reigns added the WWE Championship one year ago at WrestleMania 38, which led to “The Tribal Chief” becoming the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

As the leader of The Bloodline, Roman Reigns has had the “Wise Man” Special Counsel Paul Heyman by his site. Reigns has done his best to motivate his cousins The Usos, who are the longest-reigning WWE Tag Team Champions in the history company. The group added The Usos’ younger brother Solo Sikoa to the group last September. Last summer, Sami Zayn became an ally of The Bloodline and eventually became known as “The Honorary Uce” of the group. Uce is a positive term like calling somebody a “brother.”

At January’s Royal Rumble, Reigns and The Bloodline turned on Zayn when Sami refused to attack his best friend Kevin Owens. It also led to Zayn becoming a huge babyface that nearly beat Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the Elimination Chamber in Montreal, but Reigns found a way to win.

While reflecting on the greatness of The Bloodline storyline, Roman Reigns did his best to explain to ESPN what made Sami Zayn do so well in The Bloodline story.

“I was entertained by him when he did the Jackass stuff and really respected the way he navigated that creative [process].”

“I believe I can do work of this level with… other guys, they’d just be different. It wouldn’t be the same. It would be a different character, a different angle, a different layer. Nobody would be able to be the ‘Honorary Uce’ other than Sami Zayn.”

Paul Heyman chimed in to back up what Roman Reigns was saying by also pointing out that Zayn was brilliant during talking segments.

“What caught everyone off guard was just how brilliant he could be in talking segments. This is a person that spent a decent portion of his career under a mask before he came to WWE. And to hide that face and his expressions is mind-boggling to me. I don’t think Sami knew; otherwise he wouldn’t have spent part of his career under a mask.”

At WrestleMania 39, Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens will team up to challenge The Usos for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles on the first night of WrestleMania 39 on April 1st.
