Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes do not have many things in common.

Even during his Shield days, Reigns often found himself standing opposite Rhodes, except for a brief period when they aligned to defy The Authority in 2013.

Since debuting with WWE, Reigns has been a loyalist, climbing up the ranks to become a top in-ring performer and locker room leader.

Meanwhile, Rhodes departed the Stamford company and created AEW in 2019, before leaving that and returning to WWE in 2022.

Post his return, the American Nightmare has emerged as the face of the promotion, even winning the Undisputed WWE Championship once by defeating Roman Reigns at WrestleMania XL.

While the Original Tribal Chief returned after a hiatus on the RAW brand, he will eventually go back to SmackDown, of which Cody Rhodes is a member.

Rhodes will be on the July 18 SmackDown episode to face John Cena, his SummerSlam opponent.

This left many fans wondering about the addition of the numeric value when he already had “Original” in his nickname.
