Roman Reigns Given New Nickname Ahead Of WWE RAW
Roman Reigns receives another nickname ahead of his upcoming appearance on WWE RAW.
The 40-year-old made a surprise return last Monday to destroy Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, saving his cousin Jey Uso and CM Punk from a beatdown following a Gauntlet match to determine the number-one contender for Gunther’s World Heavyweight Championship.
Following his comeback, WWE confirmed his new moniker, OTC1, and released official merchandise featuring the name. Reigns held several nicknames throughout his career in the Stamford-based company, including The Big Dog, The Tribal Chief, and The Head of the Table.
Speaking on his Rikishi Fatu Off The Top podcast, Reigns’ WWE Hall of Fame cousin gave him another nickname.
That’s his new name. What I’m gonna call him, God Mode, right? Everybody calls him OTC1. Now, I think it is. And I’m gonna call him God Mode, you know, because he’s good for business. He’s the one that make things happen. He’s the one that opens up opportunity, not only for the company, but for everybody that’s on this roster. [11:00 onwards]
Who Will Roman Reigns Face At WWE SummerSlam
After Roman Reigns helped his cousin, Jey Uso, against Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed last Monday, speculations began that the four could face off in a tag team match at SummerSlam.
According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that match remains a possibility. However, WWE might instead book Reigns in a singles match against Breakker, while Uso faces Reed at The Biggest Party of the Summer.
A proposed card for the show from nearly three weeks ago listed Reigns vs. Bron Breakker, the same match at [SummerSlam] (or a tag with Reigns & Jey Uso vs. Breakker & Bronson Reed) that they did the angle for on Raw. Uso and Reed were at one point earmarked for a singles match on that show.
