Roman Reigns Will Be Given New Moniker In WWE

Roman Reigns WWE

There will be a tweak to one of the nicknames that Roman Reigns has been known by in the WWE Universe.

For the past five years, Roman Reigns has been known as “The Tribal Chief.” It was a name bestowed upon him as part of the storyline that saw him align as a heel with Paul Heyman to lead a stable known as The Bloodline.

This has been a year of change, though. Heyman turned on Reigns (and CM Punk) at WrestleMania 41 to align with Seth Rollins as part of a new stable that is going to take over WWE for years to come. The Rollins and Heyman stable added rising stars Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed as well.

Roman Reigns hasn’t been seen since the Raw after WrestleMania when Seth’s group took him out. Since then, Roman and his wife welcomed a sixth child to their family, and it’s expected that Reigns will be part of the card for the first-ever two-night SummerSlam event on August 2nd and 3rd in New Jersey.

Since SummerSlam is less than a month away, Reigns will likely be back on WWE television soon. At SummerSlam, he could face off against his former friend Rollins, or perhaps Breakker will step up to face Reigns, since both men use the Spear as a finishing move.

WWE Plans To Modify Roman Reigns’ Nicknames

While the SummerSlam opponent of Roman Reigns isn’t official yet, Wrestlevotes reports that Reigns may be called “OTC1” or “Tribal Chief One” when he returns.

With his return drawing closer, we’re told the moniker “OTC1” — or “Tribal Chief One” — is the leading idea for how Roman Reigns will be presented upon his return to TV. Sources continue to indicate Reigns is slated for SummerSlam at MetLife Stadium.

Fans have been chanting “OTC” for Reigns most of this year since he’s the Original Tribal Chief. Calling him “OTC1” would add a number to that name.
