Roman Reigns May Win WWE Championship Without Beating Cody Rhodes
Roman Reigns could finally recapture the Undisputed WWE Championship.
The OTC held the title for over four years before his historic reign ended at WrestleMania 40 at the hands of Cody Rhodes. Although The American Nightmare lost the championship to John Cena at this year’s Show of Shows, he won it back last August at SummerSlam.
Rhodes is now scheduled to defend the title against Drew McIntyre at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Speaking on his Notsam Wrestling podcast, WWE analyst Sam Roberts suggested The American Nightmare drop the title to The Scottish Warrior.
The 42-year-old then laid out multiple different directions the storyline could go, including one that would see Reigns win the belt back.
How Could Roman Reigns Recapture The WWE Title Without Facing Cody Rhodes?
While Sam Roberts claimed Cody Rhodes could lose the title to Drew McIntyre this Saturday and reclaim it at Royal Rumble, he pointed out that based on the reaction to The Scottish Warrior’s reign, his run could be extended to Elimination Chamber or even WrestleMania 42.
The WWE analyst then proposed that Roman Reigns could beat McIntyre for the championship, forcing The American Nightmare to win the Elimination Chamber to set up a third clash between The OTC and Rhodes at next year’s Show of Shows.
Maybe Roman beats Drew and then Cody has to win the Elimination Chamber. And then it’s Cody versus Roman. There’s a million ways that could go. [46:10 onwards]
