Roman Reigns Claims Cody Rhodes “Was Doing A Whole Lot Of Nothing” Before WWE Return
Roman Reigns has taken a shot at Cody Rhodes during a recent interview and the company that Cody helped create: All Elite Wrestling.
For the second year in a row, the WrestleMania Sunday main event will see Roman Reigns defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against two-time Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes.
In the WrestleMania 39 main event, Roman Reigns escaped with his championship thanks to his cousin Solo Sikoa hitting Cody with a Samoan Spike that the referee didn’t see, which led to Reigns hitting a Spear for the pinfall win.
At WrestleMania 40, Roman and Cody will wrestle twice because they’re also in the WrestleMania 40 Saturday main event as Reigns teams with The Rock against Cody and World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins.
If Cody & Seth win the “biggest tag team match in WWE history” then Cody’s match with Reigns will be free of The Bloodline. However, if Rock & Reigns win then it’s Bloodline Rules, which means a lot of interference in the match since The Rock said he would whip Cody Rhodes with a belt and taunt Cody’s mother Michelle too.
During an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Roman Reigns claimed that Cody Rhodes came back to WWE at WrestleMania 38 in 2022 because he saw Roman was doing as the leader of WWE and wanted to come back.
“I think everyone’s story revolves around me. So I think he is just one of many that is trying to tie this thing up. But at the end of the day, he’s just a chapter in the big book. This thing has started since August 2020, since I came back and I told the world I was the Head of the Table and I was the head of the greatest wrestling dynasty to ever exist, the Anoa’i Fatu dynasty.”
“That’s the thing, we done so many great things, this place, it’s like a magnetism. Cody was off doing who cares? A whole lot of nothing, saw what we were doing in WWE and he wanted to be a part of that. Hollywood, Dwayne, saw what we were doing. I’m the only guy who didn’t have to go to Hollywood, Hollywood came to me.”
After spending about a decade in WWE in 2016, Cody left to wrestle elsewhere. In 2019, Cody was one of the founders of AEW and spent three years there until his contract expired, which led to the WWE return. In comments that Reigns made to McAfee, he was clearly taking a shot at AEW.
Roman Reigns And Cody Rhodes Headed For Face-To-Face Showdown On WWE SmackDown
On the March 22nd episode of WWE Smackdown in Milwaukee, the “Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns will be on the show where he will have a Face-To-Face confrontation with Cody Rhodes. It will not be a contract signing or anything like that. The company is promoting it as a “Face-to-Face” discussion.
This past Monday on WWE Raw in Raleigh, Roman’s “Wise Man” Paul Heyman informed Cody that Reigns would be coming alone for the Face-To-Face and he wanted Cody to do the same. Cody agreed to that although when it comes to The Bloodline, you never know what’s really the truth.
