Roman Reigns Breaks Hearts At WWE Elimination Chamber

Montreal, Quebec, Canada was the sight of another heartbreak in WWE as Roman Reigns escaped with his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Elimination Chamber.

For months momentum and support had grown behind Sami Zayn as fans were at first elated that he’d been welcomed into The Bloodline’s inner circle before willing Zayn to stand up for himself and break away from the villainous group.

Things came to a head at the Royal Rumble when Zayn was given an ultimatum to finish off a helpless Kevin Owens with a steel chair, instead, Zayn drove the chair into Reigns’ back, ending the alliance. That led to Reigns, Jimmy Uso, and Solo Sikoa laying waste to Zayn while a conflicted Jey Uso simply walked away.

At Elimination Chamber, Sami Zayn got his hands on Roman Reigns as he challenged for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in his hometown to try and book his place in the WrestleMania 39 main event against Cody Rhodes.

Sami Zayn was carried through the match by the electric crowd as well as his wife who was sat at ringside and scored an excruciating near fall with a Helluva Kick and came even closer with a Blue Thunder Bomb after he side-stepped a Spear that saw Reigns go crashing through the ringside barrier.

Zayn would have had a three count on the champion but the referee was knocked out after being crushed in the corner by both stars. That gave Jimmy Uso his chance to interfere despite being told to stay away by Reigns but Sami Zayn survived his assault to continue the fight.

A second official was taken out so Paul Heyman handed Reigns a chair which brought out Jey Uso. Uso looked to stop his Tribal Chief from attacking Zayn and refused to hit Zayn with the chair himself before Zayn inadvertently took out Uso with a Spear meant for Reigns. Another Spear from Reigns was enough to flatten Zayn and the crowd.

What was truly a Canadian nightmare for Sami Zayn will turn into an American Nightmare for Roman Reigns as he will now face Cody Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania 39.
