Rob Van Dam Recalls Being Owed Huge Amount Of Money By ECW

Rob Van Dam

Rob Van Dam was one of ECW’s biggest names, but he has revealed that despite his success, Paul Heyman owed him a huge sum of money.

In the mid to late 1990’s ECW gained a cult following of fans thanks to the company’s hardcore approach to action and storytelling.

Characters such as The Sandman, Sabu, and Taz were hugely popular, as was rising star Rob Van Dam.

RVD was the longest reigning ECW Television Champion and would later go on to lift multiple Championships in WWE.

Paul Heyman was the man in charge of ECW, with a vision to disrupt professional wrestling and offer fans an alternative to WWE and WCW.

Rob Van Dam has now revealed that during this time, Paul Heyman was behind on payments, and owed him $150,000.

The WWE Grand Slam Champion was a guest on The Ten Count and discussed his relationship with Heyman and how he had to challenge the Wise Man over the missing money.

“Although he was taking care of me pretty good, it still felt like the longer I was there, the deeper hole I was digging for myself. And so, that’s why eventually I was like, ‘Look, I’m not going to be getting paid this and another type of company is going to be around much longer.’

So, when I left I think it was just before their last show if I’m not mistaken, but the very loose number though was 150 Grand.”

RVD has suggested he would like to step back into the ring for further matches and recently took part in the 2023 WWE Draft, as several NXT Superstars were called up to the main roster including Indi Hartwell and Grayson Waller.

Paul Heyman is currently preparing ahead of The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns challenge to take the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships from Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn at next weekend’s Night of Champions premium live event.
