Rob Van Dam Dismisses Retirement Rumours, Teases Return To The Ring

WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam has made it clear that he has not retired and is planning to step back into the ring soon.

Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, the former ECW and WWE Champion addressed speculation about his wrestling future. Rob Van Dam last competed on 20 April 2024, wrestling in a Four-Way Elimination match on AEW Rampage. When asked if he had quietly retired, he dismissed the notion outright.

“It’s easier to say I’m not, not wrestling,” Van Dam stated. “It’s been a minute, it’s been almost a year since I’ve had a match, and I do have some matches that are in conversation in the near future.”

The veteran wrestler confirmed that multiple promotions have shown interest in booking him, with some discussions extending as far ahead as 2026. However, he remains hesitant to commit to anything long-term.

“People are talking about even a year from now, and I’m like, ‘Dude, I don’t even know if I’m going to wrestle a year from now.’ But stuff is coming up that I can’t talk about yet,” he added.

For Van Dam, the decision to return to the ring hinges on negotiations.

“It’s something that if someone wants to discuss it, then it’s a numbers issue for me.”

While he has yet to reveal specific details, his comments indicate that his in-ring career is far from over. At 54 years old, Van Dam is still considering opportunities, leaving fans eager to see when and where he will make his next appearance.

Why Did Rob Van Dam Leave WWE In 2007?

Rob Van Dam spoke about his decision to leave the WWE in 2007 and said that after his 30-day suspension after he and Sabu were arrested for marijuana possession, and his subsequent stripping of both the WWE and ECW World Championships, he lost his passion for the wrestling business at that time and felt that he needed to take a break from it altogether, prompting his decision to not renew his contract with WWE.
