Rob Van Dam Won’t Apologize For Raja Jackson Comments
Rob Van Dam is doubling down on his comments regarding the Raja Jackson incident in a wrestling ring.
During a KnokX Pro event, Raja Jackson, who is the son of UFC legend Rampage Jackson, got in the ring and dumped wrestler Syko Stu on his head. Jackson went on to strike the unconscious Syko Stu in the face 21 times before eventually being dragged off him by other wrestlers.
The incident upset a lot of people because Raja should have known better than to throw so many strikes on an unconscious man.
While Syko Stu is recovering from injuries from the incident, a friend of Stu has commented that he plans to sue Raja for what happened.
After the inside, WWE Hall of Famer and former TNA World Champion Rob Van Dam posted on social media, “I back Raja” and went on to explain his viewpoint.
I want to start out by saying, best wishes to f***ing Syko Stu Smith. Hopefully, he will regain his health and do it quickly. That’s a shame. He definitely didn’t deserve what happened to him.
If you thought that me saying that was somehow hypocritical because my text said that ‘I back Raja,’ then you are one of the basic thinkers that can’t understand how those can both be true in the same universe.
I’m not picking a side [with that post]. If I did, I’m not even saying that it would be Raja. All I’m saying, it’s like when [Jim Ross] said that Vince [McMahon] was looking ugly, and then he said, ’Well, that’s the pot calling the kettle black.’ One has nothing to do with the other. Right? So I’m not saying that this guy Stu deserved what happened to him by saying that ‘I got Raja’s back.’
When I watched everything and when I say that ‘I have his back’ I’m not saying I’m going to stand back to back and fight a crowd of f***ing million people that are trying to lynch him. What I’m saying is, I see the pathway that he took that led to what happened.
Rob Van Dam Thinks “Internet Mark Community” Are Not Real People
While speaking to TMZ’s Inside the Ring podcast, Rob Van Dam went on to further explain his viewpoint on the Raja Jackson/Syko Stu incident by giving his take on certain wrestling fans.
“To answer your question about responding to the internet mark community, first off, they’re not real people. The real people say things to your face. You know, right? Bullies. Look for targets that are weaker physically, in person and on the internet, the bullies can reach anybody because they can’t reach them.
That’s a problem for the Internet Mark community, you’re not allowed to have an opinion that’s different from theirs. They feel obligated to send all kinds of just toxic junk.”
Rob Van Dam continued to make the point that while he disagreed with what Raja did, he didn’t think that Raja intended to hurt Syko Stu even more.
“They’re in love with the words, people that are on this argument, that have taken so passionately and sensitively to it, to something that I totally don’t care as much as you do about it.
I don’t really think that Raja wanted to kill him, and I don’t care if I get heat for that, by the way, if I’m wrong, I don’t mind being wrong either.
He definitely went too far. He should have known that could do some serious damage. I don’t think that his intention was to actually murder him. And I really don’t think most of the people that are even talking about this or thinking about this, think that his intent was to actually murder him.”
