Former Rival Vows To End John Cena’s Intercontinetal Title Reign

John Cena on WWE Raw

John Cena has a different target on his back.

On the November 10 episode of Monday Night Raw, John Cena ticked off one final career milestone. After being confronted by Dominik Mysterio in front of a hot crowd in Boston, Cena beat “Dirty Dom” to claim the Intercontinental Championship.

As a result, Cena has now won every major championship WWE has to offer, finally becoming a grand slam champion.

In a post on social media after the show, The Miz congratulated Cena while making sure to throw in a little jab for good measure.

“Took ya long enough. You finally did it. Grand Slam Champion, congrats, but here’s the thing. You won the title I made prestigious. Which means when I win this tournament, I’m not just winning gold… I’m restoring legacy. #MizVsCena”

Three Matches Remain For John Cena

Following his victory in Boston, it was announced that Cena would also wrestle on the November 17 episode of Raw live from Madison Square Garden. While Cena had been scheduled for the show for several weeks, there had been no word on what he would be doing.

Off the back of that match at ‘The Garden,’ Cena will compete at Survivor Series before wrapping up his career at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.

In an interview back in September, The Miz said he was “very angry” to miss out on facing John Cena, given their lengthy history. Miz added that he was among the first stars to put their name forward to face Cena when he announced his retirement.
