Why Rikishi Doesn’t Want Son Jey Uso Tagging With Roman Reigns
Roman Reigns made his spectacular return to WWE.
In doing so, he also saved his cousin Jey Uso and CM Punk from Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.
After the July 14 episode of RAW went off air, speculations about the cousins pairing again as a tag team emerged.
The last time both Reigns and Uso rode together was during their Bloodline days, when the former served as the Head of the Table.
Jey Uso then betrayed him and took his brother Jimmy with him, before starting his singles wrestling journey.
WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi, who is Jey’s father, discussed Roman Reigns’ comeback on his Rikishi Fatu Off The Top podcast.
While the majority of the WWE Universe wants them to pair up against Breakker and Reed, Rikishi thinks otherwise.
Do I think, uh, do I think God mode needs to be in a tag? No, I don’t. God mode stands alone. That’s his (Reigns) new name, what I’m gonna call him. Everybody calls him OTC1 now I think it is, I’m gonna call him God mode, you know, because he’s good for business. He’s the one that make thinngs happen. He’s the one that opens up opportunity not only for the company but for everybody. Everybody that’s on this roster during this ride of Roman Reigns’ time, man, y’all making money and y’all should be thanking him. When God walks, he don’t walk with a pile. He can, it’d be alright, but he don’t need it. [10:53 onwards]
WWE Slammed For Mishandling Of Jey Uso
According to a former WWE employee, Jey Uso has reverted to being a midcarder.
Jonathan Coachman discussed the downfall of Jey within the ranks since he lost his World Heavyweight Championship to Gunther in June.
You know what they did? You know what they’ve done? They took one of the best tag teams of all time, and his brother Jimmy had his issues, and so I’m quite sure backstage Jey said, ‘Hey man, I’ve gotta go on my own because every time you get in trouble it hurts me.’
And then he becomes a champion and they now have made him a midcarder. That’s what they’ve done, tag team, champion, to mid-carder.
With Roman Reigns now back, it will be interesting to see whether WWE books him and Jey Uso in a tag team storyline or sends him on a singles path, contesting for the world championship.
