Ricochet Takes Out AEW Champion At Maple Leaf Pro
Ricochet has made clear he wants AEW gold as he attacked one of the company’s champions on an independent show.
At All In, Will Osperay defeated MJF to regain the International Title in front of a delighted home crowd. However, just two months later, that reign was over after a shock betrayal.
At WrestleDream, Ospreay put his title on the line against both Ricochet and Konosuke Takeshita in a three-way match that did its best to steal the show.
The story of the match saw Ospreay and Ricochet going to increasingly acrobatic lengths to try and outdo each other while Takeshita used his power advantage to try and destroy the pair.
As the bout fled towards a conclusion, Takeshita sent Ricochet smashing through a table, before being hit by a Hidden Blade from Ospreay. Although he kicked out, he was hit again, only for Callis to grab the referee. Callis tried to hit Ospreay with a screwdriver, but it was blocked, and Ospreay teased hitting a Tiger Driver.
However, with Callis in position, Ospreay was attacked from behind with a screwdriver by Kyle Fletcher allowing Takeshita to grab the win and the title. After the match, Fletcher hit Ospreay with a Tiger Driver of his own.
Ricochet Attacks Konosuke Takeshita
With that setting up what is sure to be a very personal feud between the former United Empire teammates, it seems Ricochet still has his sights set on gold.
On the second night of Maple Leaf Pro’s Forged In Excellence show, Konosuke Takeshita successfully defended his International Title against TNA’s Josh Alexander but his night was far from done. Takeshita continued to attack Alexander after the match which led to Ricochet making a shock appearance as he nailed Takeshita with a springboard elbow before the champion bailed with Don Callis. Ricochet held up the title making clear he wanted the gold.
