Ricochet Explains Decision To Sign With AEW
Ricochet has given his perspective on why it was the right time to leave WWE and join AEW.
After a six-year run in WWE, former Intercontinental & United States Champion Ricochet decided to let his contract with the company expire.
The news of Ricochet’s decision to let his WWE deal expire led to heavy speculation that he was going to All Elite Wrestling. That speculation was confirmed when Ricochet competed in the Casino Gauntlet match at AEW All In at Wembley Stadium.
In his first AEW singles match, Ricochet picked up a win over Kyle Fletcher on AEW Dynamite. Will Ospreay wanted to address his friend Ricochet after the match, but Pac attacked Ospreay from behind with a Poison Rana on the stage. Pac made it clear that he gets Ospreay next at AEW All Out.
Why Did Ricochet Sign With AEW Instead Of Staying With WWE?
In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Ricochet explained his decision to join All Elite Wrestling while saying goodbye to the WWE Universe.
“Honestly, the biggest reason is that I’ve been doing this for a long time, 21 years this year. And for me, the time when I was like, having the most fun in my career was when I was, like, traveling the world with those crazy lunatics in the back there. It’s literally the time when I was having the most fun.”
“Despite what people may think, it’s not always been bad for Ricochet. I’ve had fun my entire career, no matter where I went. I’ve always had fun. That’s not going to change.”
“But when I was having the most fun was when I was hanging out with these guys and traveling the world with these guys and having matches with these guys and creating the art that I really like to make for I feel like the Ricochet fans out there who’s been, you know, I guess just missing the opportunity to shine. But for me, it’s to have fun again and to create that art again.”
Even though he is gone from WWE now, Ricochet still has close ties with the company since he’s engaged to ring announcer Samantha Irvin.
