Ricochet Dismisses Fan Theory On WWE Run

Ricochet entrance AEW Revolution

Ricochet wasn’t offended by WWE creative.

Back in June 2024, Ricochet allowed his WWE deal to expire, and he ended his six-year tenure with the company. During those six years, the star wowed crowds with his high-flying acrobatics, but he fell short of many people’s expectations despite winning the Intercontinental, United States, and NXT North American Titles.

This perception was more down to the company’s use of him than the star’s own failings, and even one of his former rivals went to bat for him. During his final months with WWE, Ricochet was used largely on the new only show Speed, and he was crowned the first-ever Speed Champion.

This caused Will Ospreay to brand WWE’s treatment of Ricochet “appalling,” and many fans later suggested that this is why he decided to leave for AEW. However, things might not have been quite that simple.

Ricochet Denies Being Offended

During an interview with Adrian Hernandez, Ricochet discussed his run on the show and dismissed the idea that he was frustrated with his role. The star said he looked at the move as an opportunity to build something and make the new show as big as possible.

No (I was not offended by being booked on WWE Speed)… You got to look at everything as an opportunity and if you don’t, then I think you’re already kind of defeated. You have to look at everything — especially, you know, they were putting something into this and I wanted to be a part of, again, building something. Building something and making it as big as possible.

I like that feeling and so, again, any opportunity you get, you gotta strike and that’s kind of the way I see it and that’s with everything. Life, wrestling, everything.

On the March 15 edition of Collision, Ricochet bounced back from defeat to Swerve Strickland at Revolution with a win over Katsuyori Shibata. The star will now face Mark Davis, Orange Cassidy, and “Speedball” Mike Bailey to determine a new number one contender for the International Title. The winner of that Four-Way Match will face Kenny Omega at Dynasty.
