Ricky Saints Names The Only Thing He Wanted In AEW

Ricky Saints

Ricky Saints is thriving in WWE while looking back on what went wrong with AEW.

After being benched by AEW for nearly a full year, Ricky Saints made his WWE NXT debut on February 11th, just a day after the news came out that he was gone from AEW.

Following his NXT debut, WWE made sure not to even say his name because Ricky’s real name is Ricky Starks and Ricky Starks is the name he used throughout his career, including in AEW. In his second week in WWE, it was announced that his name in that company will be Ricky Starks.

On the April 1st edition of WWE NXT, Ricky Saints beat Shawn Spears to win the NXT North American Title after spending less than two months working for WWE, Clearly, it shows the company is high on Starks and the talented superstar has a bright future in the company.

While speaking with The Ringer, Saints talked about how quickly his WWE debut happened.

“It was a very quick turnaround. People think that was days in advance. I had never spoken to WWE at all before any of that. I never got on the phone with anyone before that, blah, blah, blah. So all of that, when I say it happened so fast, it happened so fast and it never let up off the gas.”

Ricky Saints Wanted A Chance In AEW

During his AEW career, Ricky held the Tag Team Titles with Big Bill and also the FTW Championship, so he never held an official AEW singles title while he was there. Starks challenged for titles like the World Title and TNT Title in AEW, but he wasn’t able to win them.

Starks was used regularly for most of his first three-plus years on the roster, but in his final AEW year, it was as if he was no longer part of the company.

In his chat with The Ringer, Ricky said all he wanted in AEW was to be given a chance to show what he can do.

“My aspirations in AEW were to just be given a chance and given the ball fully. I want that in WWE, obviously. I want the WWE Championship, but along the way, the Intercontinental Title would be great.”

The next WWE NXT PLE is Stand & Deliver on April 19th and Starks currently doesn’t have a match there, but since he is a champion, it’s possible that he could be added to the show.
