Ricky Saints Breaks Silence On NXT Championship Win
Ricky Saints has reached the pinnacle of NXT, and now the brand’s new champion has broken his silence on the landmark win.
Since making the jump from AEW, Ricky Saints has made quite a name for himself in NXT. The 35-year-old won the NXT North American Title in just his third match on the brand. That led to a huge feud with another AEW alumnus, Ethan Page, with Page winning the title and redesigning the belt to better reflect his Canadian heritage.
Saints had to watch on from the sidelines at Heatwave, but made his presence felt after Oba Femi successfully defended the NXT Championship against Je’Von Evans. Saints made his way to the ring to confront Femi, and now he’s ready for a title shot of his own.
Ricky Saints Reflects On Very Special Night
On the August 26th edition of NXT, Ricky Saints defeated Josh Briggs in a number one contender match for the NXT Championship. Saints’ showdown with Oba Femi took place at No Mercy, with Ricky Saints upsetting the odds and dethroning Femi to become the new NXT Champion.
After No Mercy, Saints gave his first comment since winning the title in a video released on social media. Saints said:
What a wild ride so far, and you know, I’m not one to be at a loss for words but, tonight’s different. Tonight is very, very special. So tonight is a culmination of things that I didn’t think was possible, but I made it so, and not just me; people who supported me, people who believed in me, fans, everybody, and now, the Absolute Era truly begins.
