Ric Flair Had Terrible Chemistry With This WWE Hall Of Famer
Ric Flair has made the surprising claim that his chemistry was awful with a celebrated WWE Hall of Famer.
Ric Flair has shared the ring with the great and good of the wrestling business in a career that spanned six decades. Flair’s most memorable rivalries were against the likes of Harley Race, Dusty Rhodes, Ricky Steamboat, Terry Funk, and Randy Savage.
A planned Flair vs. Hulk Hogan WrestleMania main event in WWE has long been rumoured to have been cancelled, but the two men went on to have a memorable rivalry in WCW once Hogan joined the company in 1994.
Speaking in a new interview with The Escapist Magazine, Flair made a surprising admission when he was asked if his chemistry with Randy Savage was better than his chemistry with Hogan:
No, we had terrible chemistry.
He wanted to rehearse and I didn’t rehearse. I only did it for WrestleMania. Instead of having a week off, I had to come to Tampa and wrestle for three hours a day with him to memorize a match. And that just wasn’t my style. You have to feel the crowd.
Ric Flair Battled Randy Savage At WWE WrestleMania
The first time Randy Savage and Ric Flair ever battled in a one-on-one match was at WrestleMania 8 with the WWE Championship on the line. Savage won the title for the second and final time in his career on that night, and that was far from the last time the two men did battle.
Savage and Flair battled one another on live events for the rest of 1992, with Flair reclaiming the title from Savage on Prime Time Wrestling in September of that year. In 1995, Flair and Savage resumed hostilities in WCW, and they traded the WCW World Championship on several occasions.
