Ric Flair Pledges Loyalty To AEW In Bizarre Rant

Ric Flair AEW

Ric Flair has addressed a hater by stressing his loyalty to AEW even though he has been away from the company for the past year.

It was announced that Ric Flair had signed a huge multi-year contract with AEW in November 2023 leading up to Sting’s retirement match.

On the road to Sting’s retirement at AEW Revolution 2024, Flair made some appearances to support his friend The Stinger. In addition to Flair appearing as a talent, AEW also made Flair’s Wooooo! Energy brand as the official energy drink of AEW.

After Flair debuted in AEW, the company’s CEO, GM & Head of Creative Tony Khan revealed that AEW was not paying Ric Flair because the energy drink was paying AEW to have Flair on their shows.

In July 2024, it was reported that Flair’s AEW deal ended because the energy drink sponsorship fell through. It also led to AEW not promoting Flair’s Woooo! Energy drink again.

After John Cena won the Men’s Elimination Chamber match to earn a WWE Title shot at WrestleMania 41 in an attempt to win his record-breaking 17th World Title, Ric Flair chimed in saying that Cena will have to go through him, which is a strange thing for the 76-year-old Flair to say. Cena and Flair are tied with 16 World Title wins in their career although Flair thinks that number should be higher for him.

Vince Russo has a long history with Ric Flair going back to their WCW feud in the late 1990s while many fans have criticized Russo for the way he booked Flair in WCW. The two men have exchanged remarks over the years.

While speaking on his Sportskeeda podcast, Russo accused Flair of wanting to be part of Cena’s WWE Title quest storyline.

“God, [Ric] Flair is throwing so much bait out there to be a part of this. Come on, there’s gotta’ be a cut off point when we move on from people. And 80 is probably a good point. I don’t mean to be disrespectful, but 80 is probably the point where we need to move on from people. But I would not be the least bit surprised if we saw him.”

Ric Flair Claims He Still Works For AEW’s Tony Khan

The last time Ric Flair appeared on AEW television was at the Revolution PPV in March 2024, which means it has been a whole year since he appeared.

In response to what Russo said, Flair did one of his all-caps social media posts claiming that Tony Khan is still his employer.

“Please @THEVinceRusso, I Thought We Agreed That You Wouldn’t Use My Name To Get A Rating! I Work For My GREAT Friend And Employer @TonyKhan, Who Allows Me To Do Things With My Daughter And Understands The Importance Of Me Being In Attendance At Events Like The Hall Of Fame!”

There was a report in January 2025 about Flair appearing on an episode of Dynamite, but it didn’t end up happening. It’s not known if AEW plans to use Flair again.
