Ric Flair Linked With Shock WWE Return
Ric Flair could be heading back to WWE.
On February 1st, WWE will return to Indianapolis for the Royal Rumble. As usual, many of the company’s biggest names are expected to be in action, while several legends will undoubtedly be in attendance for what is always a highlight of the WWE calendar.
According to a new report from Mike Johnson PWInsider, one of those legends could be Ric Flair. As noted by Johnson there have been within the company about bringing in Flair and ‘Hacksaw’ Jim Duggan.
Both men have a lengthy history with the Rumble, with Duggan winning in 1988, while Flair was victorious in 1992.
Flair hasn’t been a regular for WWE since being released from his contract in 2021, although he appeared on Raw XXX in January 2023 before inducting the Great Muta into the Hall of Fame later that same year. However, it was reported his speech garnered a negative reaction backstage.
Ric Flair’s AEW Return Scrapped
The report comes after it was revealed that plans for Ric Flair to return to AEW television had been dropped. It was noted that Flair was originally scheduled to appear on AEW Collision at the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina on January 4th. However, he was replaced by the Rock N’ Roll Express.
Flair appeared for AEW several times in late 2023 and into 2024 repeatedly popping up during Sting’s retirement run. The Nature Boy’s last appearance came at Revolution during Sting’s last match against the Young Bucks.
The WWE Hall of Famer also had an energy drink deal with the company but as 2024 continued this was quietly dropped.
