Ric Flair Makes Bold John Cena Claim About WWE Title Interest
Ric Flair has given an interesting take on John Cena’s pursuit of another World Title victory in WWE.
The year 2025 will be the final year of John Cena’s career as an in-ring competitor in WWE. The future Hall of Famer started on WWE television in 2002, was one of the longest-tenured main events in company history, and has spent the last five years focusing on his Hollywood career while occasionally appearing on WWE TV as well.
During his WWE career, John Cena won 16 WWE World Titles, which is the most in company history and it’s also tied with Ric Flair. The legendary two-time Hall of Famer Flair believes he should have more World Titles credited to him from his days in the NWA, but that number 16 is what is recognized for him.
As Cena’s final year approaches, many WWE fans likely want to see him win a record-breaking 17th WWE Championship. Since there are two men’s World Championships currently held by WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER, Cena could have multiple opportunities to break the prestigious record.
Ric Flair appeared on Busted Open Radio where he said that he doesn’t think Cena cares about breaking the WWE Championship record.
“John Cena doesn’t want to break a record. He doesn’t give a sh*t about that. He’s in a different world now. Wrestling will always be his passion but he doesn’t care [about breaking the record].”
Charlotte Flair Breaking World Title Record Would Be Bigger Than John Cena According To Ric Flair
Another person close to the record of 16 WWE World Title wins is Charlotte Flair, who is recognized as having 14 Women’s Title wins in WWE. Charlotte’s two NXT Women’s Title wins don’t count toward that number.
In a statement that probably doesn’t surprise most wrestling fans, Ric Flair believes Charlotte Flair breaking the World Title would be a huge deal.
“I still think the biggest thing in the business when it happens…is her breaking the title record…”
Charlotte has been out of action for one year following major knee surgery and a lengthy rehab process. It’s expected that Charlotte will return to the WWE ring soon. Ric went on to talk about her comeback.
“I just think it’s a woman’s world now and she’s the best woman wrestler alive and I think this time off, as unfortunate as it was because of the severity of the injury, I think she’s been able to sit back and realize just how damn good she is.”
“I guarantee you when she walks back in the door of whatever arena…it’s gonna be a gamechanger guys. I’ll bet $10,000 that the best match she wrestles if it’s a good opponent, will get the highest woman’s rating in a long time in a singles match.”
John Cena has said that he’ll be at WWE Raw’s Netflix premiere on January 6th in Los Angeles although the company hasn’t officially advertised his appearance yet.
