Ric Flair AEW Appearance Scrapped
Ric Flair won’t be returning to AEW.
On November 2nd, 2023 it was announced that Ric Flair had signed a huge multi-year contract with AEW. The new deal saw Flair’s Wooooo! Energy brand become the official energy drink of AEW.
The star also appeared on television, including a spot during Sting’s final match at Revolution. However, Flair hasn’t featured for the company since, and his energy drink deal was quietly dropped. But it seems the bridge between the Hall of Famer and the company remained intact.
As reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Flair had been scheduled to appear at Collision on January 4th at the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina. However, the veteran now won’t be at the taping, and his planned cameo won’t be happening.
The Rock N’ Roll Express, Ricky Morton, and Robert Gibson are now expected to fill the role. The pair are also in line for another appearance at an AEW event in the coming weeks.
Ric Flair Refuses To Rule Out In-Ring Return
The news comes after Ric Flair claimed he’s got another match left in him. During the same interview, the WWE Hall of Famer admitted that Tony Khan stopped him from getting physical in AEW due to fears about his health.
Flair hasn’t wrestled since teaming with Andrade El Idolo against Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett at a special event run under Jim Crockett Promotions in July 2022. During the match, the veteran struggled badly and later admitted he passed out twice during the contest.
