Ric Flair On Charlotte Flair’s WWE Return – “I’ve Never Seen Her This Happy”
Ric Flair has revealed how his daughter Charlotte Flair is feeling following her recent WWE return that saw her win yet another championship.
When it comes to being a proud wrestling dad, Ric Flair is happy to talk about the incredible career of his daughter Ashley aka WWE’s Charlotte Flair. After all, she’s a 14-time Women’s Champion in WWE, which is by far the most championships won by any woman in the history of the company.
Ric Flair knows about winning championships in wrestling too since his recognized number of 16 World Titles is the highest that WWE acknowledges and he’s tied with John Cena for that number.
Speaking of Cena, Ric was backstage in Tampa (where he now lives) for the December 30th edition of Smackdown so he can catch up with his friends like Cena and Roman Reigns. However, Ric left the arena before his daughter Charlotte returned to WWE to beat Ronda Rousey to become the new Smackdown Women’s Champion.
Ric Flair appeared as a guest on WWE’s After The Bell podcast to talk about Charlotte’s return while knowing that he missed her return because she never told him and he assumed she was coming back at the Royal Rumble later this month.
“I started crying again. I always do. I’m so happy for her. I knew she was coming back. I knew she was coming back, but I assumed the Rumble like everybody else. She doesn’t tell me anything. She says I have a big mouth [laughs]. I’m so proud of her. It’s unbelievable.”
Charlotte returned to WWE after taking seven months off. She got married to AEW’s Andrade El Idolo (they met in WWE) in May 2022 and she took a long break after that before her surprising return.
As Ric continued to talk about his daughter, he noted that she has never been happier while noting she also dealt with an issue with her teeth while she was out of the ring.
“I’m so happy for her. [The wedding] happened at a time where she could take a break. The arm thing with Ronda, and she got hit in the mouth in that same match and had a major issue with her teeth. But it was a well-deserved rest, and sometimes it’s good to walk away from it. There was certainly no loss of respect with Ronda Rousey. I thought they had a hell of a match. It was a good opportunity to get away.”
“She and [Andrade] have had an opportunity to spend a lot of time together. They bought a new home. It’s really been good for her. But at the same time, I know how she bad she wanted to her back in, too. After a while, all that gets old, and now I want back in. She’s doing great. I’ve never seen her this happy, really in a long time.”
