Rhea Ripley & Iyo Sky Get Official Tag Team Name, New Merchandise

Rhea Ripley Iyo Sky

The WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Rhea Ripley & Iyo Sky, have an official tag team name and even merchandise to show it off.

It was this time around a year ago when Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley were battling over the Women’s World Title on the Raw brand. It led to some great matches between them.

That led to even more great matches, including an amazing triple threat match with Bianca Belair at WrestleMania 41. Ripley and Sky also headlined the women-only Evolution PLE as well.

All of those amazing matches led Ripley and Sky to form a friendship that has made them arguably the most popular tag team in WWE.

Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky became the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions when they beat the Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) on the January 5th edition of Raw.

For months leading into that match, many fans referred to Rhea and Iyo as Rhiyo, which is obviously a combination of their names. It’s not that creative, but it’s something many teams in the past done in pro wrestling. Remember Jerishow? Anyway, not only is the name official, but as Rhea Ripley shared on social media, there is official Rhiyo merchandise available now.

In addition to that, on WWE.com‘s official roster page listing of the champions in the company, the Rhiyo name is also confirmed.

Rhea Ripley & Iyo Sky aka Rhiyo Will Defend Titles At Saturday Night’s Main Event

The January 12th edition of WWE Monday Night Raw opened with Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky doing a promo celebrating their huge Women’s Tag Team Title victory one week earlier.

The Judgment Day’s Liv Morgan and Roxanne Perez interrupted. The fans booed the heelish Morgan, who was in her ring gear with Perez. Morgan said that those still belong to them and she never lost her titles.

Bayley and Lyra Valkyria interrupted as Bayley pointed out that Perez lost the Tag Team Titles and she beat Perez a few weeks ago on Raw. Bayley thinks they deserve a Tag Team Title match.

Ripley said that they were willing to face anyone. Sky ranted in Japanese at them. The two teams argued. Asuka and Kairi Sane showed up to pull Ripley and Sky out of the ring.

The three non-championship teams got into a brawl in the ring. Ripley and Sky got back into the ring to beat up the other teams. Sky hit an uppercut and Ripley hit a fallaway slam. Sky hit a running dropkick to take out two wrestlers. Ripley and Sky stood tall with their titles.

Later on Raw, Liv Morgan & Roxanne Perez beat Bayley & Lyra Valkyria and the Kabuki Warriors in a triple threat match. Morgan got the win for her team when she hit Oblivion on Sane for the win.

It was announced that Rhiyo’s Rhea Ripley & Iyo Sky will defend the Women’s Tag Team Titles against Liv & Roxanne at Saturday Night’s Main Event on January 24th in Montreal. While Liv and Roxanne have been champions in the past, they haven’t been champions as a team, so they’ll get their chance at SNME later this month.
