Rhea Ripley’s 26 Month Record Broken At WWE SummerSlam
It all went wrong for Rhea Ripley at SummerSlam.
Heading into SummerSlam life looked pretty for Rhea Ripley. She’d got Dominik Mysterio back by her side after overcoming her recent injury struggles and she was ready to demolish Liv Morgan and regain the Women’s World Title. But unfortunately for the Judgment Day star, things went badly wrong.
Initially, Mysterio helped Ripley, but with the match seemingly won after a Riptide, the Aussie star decided to dish out some more punishment with a steel chair. But as she swung it, Mysterio intervened as he knew Ripley would be disqualified — or did he?
The distraction allowed Morgan to hit Oblivion, but Ripley kicked out. However, as Mysterio argued with the referee, Morgan hit the move again on a chair to score the win. Making sure there was no doubt about what he’d done, Dominik Mysterio kissed Morgan after the match and the pair left together to the disgust of Michael Cole and Pat McAfee on commentary.
Long-Standing Rhea Ripley WWE Record Broken
By pinning Ripley, Liv Morgan became the first woman to do so for a staggering 26 months. Ironically, the last person to pin the former Women’s World Champion prior to SummerSlam was Morgan.
Although in a small crumb of comfort for Ripley, she became the first person to ever kick out of Morgan’s Oblivion finisher.
Liv Morgan has held the Women’s World Title since May 25th when she beat Becky Lynch at King & Queen of the Ring.
