Rhea Ripley Awarded New Women’s Title On WWE Raw
There was a new Women’s Championship awarded to Rhea Ripley on WWE Monday Night Raw.
At WrestleMania 39, the Royal Rumble winner Rhea Ripley defeated Charlotte Flair in an epic title match to become the new Smackdown Women’s Champion.
One month later in part two of the WWE Draft, Ripley was the number one draft pick for Raw even though Ripley held the Smackdown Women’s Title. Meanwhile, Bianca Belair was holding the Raw Women’s Title at the time and she was drafted to Smackdown. It made fans wonder what WWE might do to fix this situation.
It was last Friday on the June 9th edition of Smackdown when Asuka was awarded the new WWE Women’s Championship, so it’s only fitting that Rhea Ripley received a new championship on the following Raw.
At the start of the June 12th edition of Raw, WWE Official Adam Pearce presented Ripley with a brand new championship: The Women’s World Championship.
As you can see above, it has a similar design to the World Heavyweight Championship that Seth “Freakin” Rollins currently holds on Raw.
This is WWE’s way of eliminating the Raw & Smackdown Women’s Championships from history. Instead, they have renamed the titles so if wrestlers holding titles switch brands then there is no need for a title swap.
During her WWE career so far, Ripley has been the Raw & Smackdown Women’s Champion, the NXT Women’s Champion, she was the first NXT UK Women’s Champion and a WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion as well. Now she can add the WWE Women’s World Title to her collection.
