Rhea Ripley Injured, What It Could Mean For WWE Women’s World Title
The WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley is dealing with an injury that could severely impact her championship reign.
It was over one year ago at WrestleMania 39 when 2023 Royal Rumble winner Rhea Ripley defeated Charlotte Flair to become the Smackdown Women’s Champion. It was a match that recently won a Slammy Award as the Match of the Year as well.
One year later at WrestleMania 40, Ripley faced off against Becky Lynch, who much like Flair is one of the most celebrated women in WWE history. Ripley was able to overcome the challenge from Lynch and hit a Riptide slam to get the win.
On the Raw after WrestleMania 40 from Philadelphia, Ripley was walking backstage when Liv Morgan attacked her. Morgan has been after Ripley for months since Ripley took out Morgan last summer in the storyline. On Raw, Morgan threw a chair at Ripley and stomped on the champion.
There is some unfortunate news to report because PWInsider’s Mike Johnson has learned from multiple sources that Rhea Ripley was injured on last week’s Raw. It was added by Johnson that the “issue is severe enough that the talk internally is that Ripley may be forced to vacate her championship.” That title vacancy could happen as soon as tonight’s episode of Raw from Montreal.
Rhea Ripley has been dealing with a left wrist injury for several months. It’s not yet known if that’s the injury that could cause her to vacate the Women’s World Title that she has held for over one year.
We will have more updates on Ripley’s injury status as more news becomes available.
Rhea Ripley Had A Panic Attack Before WrestleMania 40 Match
While Rhea Ripley is beloved and admired by millions due to her strength on screen, she still deals with a lot of emotions just like anybody else. Ripley has opened up about how she had a panic attack before her match with Lynch at WrestleMania 40.
Ripley also praised WWE Producer Jason Jordan for helping her while she was dealing with nerves before her WrestleMania match.
