Rhea Ripley Reveals When She Found Out About Historic Royal Rumble Win
This year’s Royal Rumble saw Rhea Ripley set a record and she has opened up about when she found out it was going to happen.
At the 2023 Royal Rumble in San Antonio, Rhea Ripley went into the match as the most popular pick to win the Women’s Rumble match. It’s because many fans felt like as a member of The Judgment Day with Finn Balor, Damian Priest & Dominik Mysterio, “Mami” Ripley deserved her time to shine and the Rumble match was the perfect time for it.
The fans were right because WWE also felt it was Rhea Ripley’s time to shine.
Rhea Ripley started the Women’s Royal Rumble match in the #1 spot and Liv Morgan was #2 in the match. They ended up being the final two women in the match with Ripley tossing Liv to win the match. Ripley eliminated seven women in the match and last 1:01:08 in the match. Ripley’s time was the longest of any woman in any WWE Royal Rumble match.
During an appearance on the Mark Andrews show My Love Letter to Wrestling, Rhea Ripley revealed she only heard about her lengthy Royal Rumble performance two days before the match.
“I want to say two nights before. I got a message, ‘How is your cardio?’ What do you mean how is my cardio? I’ve been a manager the last few months. I’m happy to do 20 minutes on the elliptical, but what are we talking about here? When they finally told me, I was like, ‘You’re joking, right?'”
“I think I could do it because adrenaline is a powerful thing, but at the same time I was like, ‘I don’t know if I’m going to be able to do it.'”
Coming out of the Royal Rumble, Rhea Ripley would go on to WrestleMania 39 where she beat Charlotte Flair to win the Smackdown Women’s Title, which Ripley has held for about two months with no sign of slowing down.
