Rhea Ripley Eradicates Becky Lynch At WWE WrestleMania 40
Rhea Ripley and Becky Lynch set the pace for WrestleMania 40 as the two women clashed for the Women’s World Championship and in Philadelphia, Mami’s on top.
Rhea Ripley won what was then known as the SmackDown Women’s Championship all the way back at WrestleMania 39 from Charlotte Flair. Since then, Ripley’s stock has risen phenomenally through her role in the Judgment Day and her on-screen relationship with Dominik Mysterio.
Becky Lynch booked her WrestleMania title match when she won the Elimination Chamber in Perth, Australia guaranteeing her shot at the gold. Lynch had not held a main roster singles world title since losing to Bianca Belair at WrestleMania 38 and now two years later, that wait goes on.
Rhea Ripley Eradicates Becky Lynch At WrestleMania
At WrestleMania 40, Becky Lynch had more than just the champion to contend with as commentary played up that she had been ill with strep throat all week. A back and forth match saw Lynch survive Ripley’s Prison Trap submission while Ripley kicked out of a Manhandle Slam.
Lynch survived a Riptide and a frog splash to keep the fight going but ultimately, it was two more Riptides that were enough for Rhea Ripley to eradicate Becky Lynch and pick up the win.
That win could set up The Judgment Day for a successful WrestleMania with Damian Priest and Finn Balor defending the WWE Tag Team Championship and Dominik Mysterio once again doing battle with his WWE Hall of Fame father Rey Mysterio in a tag team match.
