Rhea Ripley Battling Injury Following Unfortunate Botch

Rhea Ripley WWE

Rhea Ripley recently revealed that she has been battling an injury.

The Eradicator is arguably the most popular female superstar in the Stamford-based company today. Earlier this year, she competed against Bianca Belair and IYO SKY in a Women’s World Championship match at WrestleMania 41.

In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, the 28-year-old revealed that she almost missed this year’s Show of Shows due to a back injury.

The former Judgment Day member disclosed that she sustained the injury back when she was in NXT as she and Raquel Rodriguez botched a table spot, claiming her back has not been the same since.

Rhea Ripley explained that she had been battling this injury for a few years, having a masseuse work on it regularly. She added that the injury occasionally flares up badly, as it did before WrestleMania 41, and almost caused her to miss the show.

Normally my lower back, especially lately, I don’t know what’s been going on. I think it actually started from the match I had with Raquel in NXT, where she gave me the back body drop onto the announce table, but we undershot it and I hit the very edge of the table, like right on my lower back.

After that, my lower back was never the same. But I mean, I do whatever I can to try and make it better. I have a masseuse Matthew come over and he works on it. He helps stretch me out, and puts my hips back in line pretty much, and just fixes all that. And thank God for him that he comes over to help. Because sometimes it gets really bad. I didn’t think that I would be able to wrestle at WrestleMania 41, Rhea Ripley said. [H/T: Insight With Chris Van Vliet]

Rhea Ripley Will Fight Raquel Rodriguez Again At Night Of Champions

The Eradicator and the Women’s Tag Team Champion shared the ring many times over the past few years. Their last one-on-one match took place in December of last year and ended in victory for Rhea Ripley.

The two powerhouses have reignited their feud in recent weeks. After Rodriguez put Ripley through a table last Monday on RAW with Roxanne Perez’s help, the two will now square off in a Street Fight at Night of Champions this Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
