Rey Mysterio Explains Why He’s Always Betrayed By WWE Partners
What do Eddie Guerrero, Chavo Guerrero, Batista, Dominik Mysterio, Santos Escobar, and Carlito have in common? Rey Mysterio could tell you.
Rey Mysterio should have really learned to be less trusting over the years in WWE. Back in 2005, Mysterio held the WWE Tag Team Championship with Eddie Guerrero but Guerrero was determined to test himself against his partner leading to them facing off at WrestleMania 21.
Mysterio won that match and two weeks later they lost their championship to MNM and Guerrero eventually turned his back on his long-time friend.
One of the most famous betrayals in recent WWE history came back at Bragging Rights in 2009 when Batista looked Rey Mysterio in the eye while telling him he was going to take his head off before doing exactly that after both men had been part of a fatal four-way match for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Rey Mysterio Trusts The Wrong People
Perhaps the most heartbreaking betrayal occurred at Clash at the Castle in September 2022 when Dominik Mysterio stabbed his own father in the back to join up with The Judgment Day. Since then both Santos Escobar and Carlito have betrayed the WWE Hall of Famer, leaving the LWO in the process.
Now speaking to Bleacher Report, Rey Mysterio gave his take on why he’s suffered so many betrayals in his life and said he might snap one day:
I’m too friendly with people and because I don’t know how to get mad and I can’t be the bad guy, even at home. My wife sometimes will tell me, ‘You have to show them a little bit more attitude.’ I’m just so chill. I’m so relaxed.
I can’t change that character I’ve been for so many years, my whole life. I always end up trusting the wrong people and that’s my problem. Maybe one day I’ll just snap and go crazy.
Rey Mysterio got a measure of revenge on Carlito on the 27th of May edition of Raw as he defeated the man he brought back to WWE as part of the LWO.
