Rey Fenix’s WWE Opponent Tease Cut From Show
WWE might have had a change of heart on plans for Rey Fenix.
After months of speculation, it’s been announced that Rey Fenix will make his WWE debut on the April 4 episode of SmackDown.
In recent weeks a series of vignettes have aired on SmackDown teasing a new arrival with the latest showing a masked Luchador alone in the ring. At the end of the clip, it was announced that Fenix will debut on April 4, although there’s no word on whether he’ll be wrestling.
Interestingly, it seems that the company did know who they wanted to be first in line for Fenix on SmackDown, but now that might not be the case.
WWE Dropped Segment Linked To Rey Fenix
According to a report from Wrestle Votes via Sportskeeda’s Backstage Pass Q&A, a segment featuring SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis and Andrade concerning Fenix was cut from the March 21 edition of the blue brand.
In the segment, Aldis would have told Andrade that a new talent was coming to SmackDown and he wanted him to face them first. Interestingly, the segment wasn’t rescheduled for the following week and instead dropped altogether.
“Don’t know for sure but I can go back to the SmackDown three weeks ago, the one from Italy. Written in the show before the Liv Morgan vs. Jade Cargill match, there was to be a backstage segment with Nick Aldis telling Andrade that there are new talent coming to SmackDown and he would want him to work with them first. That segment got cut.
It was not supposed to be on last week’s show, so I don’t know where it stands. However, that would indicate to me that at least they had plans at the minimum for Andrade vs. Rey Fenix. We’ll see if that happens,”
On a recent episode of his podcast, Eric Bischoff suggested that Penta and Rey Fenix should be kept apart, at least initially. The WWE Hall of Famer surmised that as everyone is waiting for the pair to reunite, fans should have to wait a little longer to build more anticipation.
