Rey Fenix Living The Dream Following AEW Exit

Rey Fenix WWE Debut

Rey Fenix couldn’t be happier, and he’s just getting started.

From the moment that Penta arrived in WWE back in January, it was only a matter of time until he would be joined by his brother Rey Fenix.

However, thanks to his AEW contract, Fenix was forced to wait on the sidelines before he could finally make the jump. The star finally got his wish in April, making his eye-catching debut on SmackDown.

Less than two weeks later, he was handed a surprise match at WrestleMania 41 after Rey Mysterio was forced to pull out of his match with El Grande Americano. Although Fenix missed out on victory, the match marked a major landmark in his career.

Rey Fenix Delighted To Be Part Of WWE

During a new interview with SA Live to promote the July 18 edition of SmackDown in San Antonio, Texas, Fenix looked back at his first few months as a WWE Superstar. The star began by saying that just signing with the company made his inner child very happy.

“That means a lot. It’s a dream come true. The kid inside my heart, it’s very happy. I’m living the dream. I dream to be part of WWE universe from as a kid. So now, the dream come true and I’m very excited every day. I’m so happy.”

With regard to his last-minute addition to WrestleMania 41, Fenix said he was incredibly nervous, but grateful for the opportunity.

“I remember the moment and still being nervous and I have no words to describe how amazing — I remember that day was incredible from that first hour. When I received the message, like, ‘You have to work WrestleMania today.’ It was no words in my mouth. It was like, my mind blowing up. I can’t believe it. But so happy because I did it.”

24 hours later, his brother Penta also made his WrestleMania debut, challenging for the Intercontinental Championship. Fenix cast his mind back to the pair play fighting as children, adding that he’s incredibly proud of his big brother.

“I had this picture in my mind, these two kids, playing wrestling on my mom’s bed. Jumping from the couch to the floor, and playing as a kid… and with this big dream and that night, WrestleMania night, was indescribable. My brother is my older brother but I see him just more like a older brother, like my dad. So happy and very, very proud of my brother and of myself for sure.”

Meanwhile, Rey Mysterio has confirmed that he hopes to be back in the ring by August, with a comeback following SummerSlam looking increasingly likely.
