Rey Fenix Trying To Babyface Himself With AEW Outrage

Rey Fenix AEW

As the issues between AEW and Rey Fenix continue, it’s been suggested Fenix is simply trying to make himself the good guy after his talks with WWE were uncovered.

After months of uncertainty, it was reported on December 1st that Penta El Zero Miedo was now a free agent. The star, and his brother and tag team partner Rey Fenix, have been heavily linked with a move to WWE, but the path to the sports entertainment giant has been anything but straightforward.

Rey Fenix has expressed his unhappiness publicly as things between him and AEW threaten to turn ugly. Fenix has hinted that he was left needing a doctor but was ignored by the company at some point. Some believe Fenix may be trying to embarrass the company into offering him his release or by acting out in a way that Tony Khan may be forced to fire him, either option would potentially leave him free to join his brother in WWE or elsewhere.

Rey Fenix Could Set Dangerous AEW Precedent

Fightful Select has now given an in-depth report on the latest happenings with AEW noting at the on-sale event for All In Texas that the company was not commenting in any way on Fenix.

The report notes, however, that many in the company were surprised by Fenix’s posts despite him being on his way out of AEW. While one source noted that there had been communication issues, there was nothing they heard that could be construed as “inhumane” as Fenix described in another post.

The belief is that Rey Fenix took issue with a doctor who hadn’t cleared him to return although it should be noted there was little context given to that matter.

Another AEW source said to be familiar with the situation noted the claims made by Fenix were untrue and that suggested someone was trying to “babyface themselves” after AEW had been upset with rumours that the Lucha Bros spoke to WWE about a deal while still under contract.

It should be noted that one AEW source felt that they fear whatever outcome now happens will set an unfortunate precedent either way. Fenix could have up to a year left on his deal which means there could be more awkward moments to come for Tony Khan from the wantaway star.
