Returning WWE Name To Become SmackDown’s Top Face
A recently-returned WWE Superstar has only appeared on Raw thus far, but they’re now scheduled to be the top babyface on SmackDown!
Braun Strowman, as was reported by PWInsider’s Mike Johnson, returned to WWE programming on Monday Night Raw. ‘The Monster Among Men’ interrupted a four-team number one contender’s match, laying waste to all eight competitors.
Moving forward, though, the one-time Universal Champion will be featured in SmackDown’s creative plans. Dave Meltzer wrote as such in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, indicating that WWE may promote a premium live event contest between Braun and Roman Reigns:
“[Braun] Strowman (Adam Scherr, 39) returned this week on Raw, but will be on Smackdown on 9/9 and is scheduled to be a babyface on the Smackdown brand. It does give them another person they could headline a PPV with against [Roman] Reigns. Strowman on the Smackdown brand can be the monster on that show, although really categorizing people as Raw or Smackdown, and while they are considered that and listed internally as that, the reality is the stars are frequently on both shows.
Strowman being back notes that he can be a monster based on size without Omos in the picture given Omos is probably nine inches taller. But Omos hasn’t been used of late. Strowman came back lighter and more muscular than in his prior stint with the company.”
Braun Strowman was cut from WWE in June 2021, having spent six years on the main roster. During that time, he held the Universal, Intercontinental, and Raw Tag Team Championships, and worked with the likes of Drew McIntyre, Kevin Owens, Roman Reigns, and WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg.
Outside of WWE, where he performed as ‘The Titan’ Adam Scherr, Braun Strowman was closely linked to EC3’s Control Your Narrative brand. This involved Strowman debuting with Ring Of Honor at the 2021 Final Battle pay-per-view.
