Report Confirms Will Ospreay Surgery Timeline

Will Ospreay in AEW

Will Ospreay will be out for a long time.

Back in July, Will Ospreay revealed that he was dealing with a serious neck injury and would need to take time off. However, he remained determined to wrestle at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in London, England.

As promised, Ospreay wrestled at the event, but was promptly written off television before it went off the air.

In the days leading up to the show, Will Ospreay confirmed that he was dealing with a “few” herniated discs pushing against his spinal cord. This, in turn, was causing nerve issues.

Will Ospreay Will Soon Undergo Surgery

Although things have been relatively quiet since Forbidden Door, Dave Meltzer confirmed in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Ospreay’s surgery is just around the corner. The star is expected to miss a considerable amount of time as a result.

A follow-up from Fightful Select noted that Ospreay’s surgery will be within a “couple of weeks.”

The update comes just days after it was confirmed that Jay White will miss the rest of 2025. Although he didn’t provide any details, Tony Khan had suggested that Switchblade would be missing for a long time.

White initially suffered a hand injury in late March, meaning he had to be pulled from the Owen Hart Cup at the last minute. On the April 2 edition of Dynamite, he was replaced in the opening round by Kevin Knight.

However, according to the new report, while White has likely long recovered from the hand injury, he’s also sought treatment for a shoulder issue. This has caused his expected return date to be pushed back.

In better news for AEW, Swerve Strickland has already undergone surgery on his torn meniscus and has shared video of himself back in the gym. Meanwhile, Orange Cassidy is also believed to be closing on an in-ring return.
