Report: The Rock/Vin Diesel Drama Turning Into A WWE Match At WrestleMania 33?
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson recently finished filming his scenes for the newest movie in the Fast & Furious franchise, Fast 8. During The Rock’s final week of shooting Fast 8, he went public with his disapproval of the way some of his male Fast 8 co-stars conducted themselves in a professional setting. The Rock said the following on his Instagram:
“My female co-stars are always amazing and I love ’em. My male co-stars however are a different story. Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken shit to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling – you’re right.”
This caused a lot of buzz by the media as The Rock seems to be the type of person to never call out his colleagues on social media and publicly shame them. It also created a stir because people wanted to know which person/s The Rock was referring to. In another Instagram post from The Rock after Fast 8 finished filming, he thanked a number of his male co-stars, but failed to mention Vin Diesel. This lead many media outlets to believe that there was major drama between The Rock and Vin Diesel on the set of Fast 8.
In the most recent issue of Life & Style magazine, an insider reveals that while the drama between The Rock and Vin Diesel is partially true, it is largely a publicity stunt. The insider told Life & Style magazine, “The Rock convinced Vin to amp up the drama between them so they could turn it into a WWE match to help promote the April 2017 release of Fast 8.”
WrestleMania 33 takes place on April 2 which, as mentioned above, coincides with the promotional push for Fast 8 which releases on April 14. Appearances from The Rock, aside from a rare surprise here or there, mostly happens at WrestleMania. Next year’s WrestleMania also takes place in The Rock’s home state of Florida. If this insider’s report is true, all the stars are aligning for a WrestleMania 33 match.
Mark’s reaction: When I heard this news, I let out a giant groan. I understand that WrestleMania always has celebrity attractions and that they’ll mostly always be some sort of match where a celebrity is involved. However, WrestleMania 33 will already see Big Show take on Shaquille O’Neal in a one-on-one bout. Do we really need two of these type of celebrity matches/angles that will likely take up a lot of time at the biggest WWE show of the year?
