Report: Original Plan For The Finish Of Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte’s WWE Hell In A Cell Match

TJR Wrestling

Last night’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event made history as it was the first WWE pay-per-view to ever be main-evented by a women’s match. That women’s match was also the first time two women ever competed inside Hell in a Cell.

Those two women were Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair, and aside from a couple botches, I thought the match was good. However, the outcome of the bout surprised many people as Banks lost the Raw Women’s Title again to Charlotte. Banks’ reign did not even last a month (she won it on October 3), and to top it off, she lost in her hometown of Boston, Massachusetts.

On the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that the original plan was to have Banks defeat Charlotte. However, Vince McMahon changed his mind and wanted Charlotte to go over instead. The reason as to why Vince decided to have Charlotte win instead of Banks is not yet known, but the decision has reportedly been made to do a Charlotte vs. Bayley program much earlier than originally planned.
