Report Names Moment Staged For “WWE: Unreal” Docuseries
WWE: Unreal has given fans a different look at professional wrestling.
The internet has been buzzing since WWE: Unreal premiered on July 29. The new docuseries has promised to take fans behind the scenes like never before, going as far as showing footage of the usually mysterious writers’ room as storylines and matches are put together.
Of the talking points to come out of the show, it was revealed that Triple H didn’t initially want Seth Rollins to win at WrestleMania 41, and that Steve Austin was originally scheduled to work as a special guest referee for a match between Drew McIntyre and Bron Breakker.
In the weeks before the documentary’s release, Steve Austin criticised WWE’s plan to pull back the curtain, suggesting the industry needs to remain mysterious.
Was Any Of WWE: Unreal Staged?
As online speculation around the series continues, a new report from Fightful Select has attempted to set the record straight while revealing the real reaction to the docuseries backstage.
According to the report, despite some concerns about authenticity from WWE producers, everyone was “very pleased” with how the show turned out. Interestingly, the production crew didn’t know about Cena’s heel turn in advance, while one talent noted that the show delivered an “honest portrayal” of IShowSpeed’s Royal Rumble appearance.
The report also dismissed online speculation that the infamous SmackDown segment between Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair was manufactured for the series. However, the scene where the women’s locker room emptied to celebrate Flair’s Royal Rumble win was put together by the show’s producers. However, talent weren’t told that it was specifically for the Netflix series.
