Report: Injury Update On Shane McMahon; Status After WWE Survivor Series Match
Shane McMahon was legitimately hurt during the Team Raw vs. Team Smackdown Men’s Elimination Match at Survivor Series last night. This is according to PWInsider and Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer.
Toward the latter part of the match, Shane attempted to hit Roman Reigns with one of his signature moves, the Coast to Coast. However, Reigns caught Shane mid-air with a spear. They both came down on the mat hard. When Reigns went for the pin Shane miraculously kicked out at two. It seemed to be a mistake as that would typically be the kind of spot that would finish a wrestler off. Immediately after Shane kicked out the referee checked on him and then called for help; during which he was announced as being eliminated.
Shane was reportedly supposed to be pinned by Reigns after being speared, and both men were shaken up after the spot. This is according to Meltzer. He also noted that although Shane was in pain backstage, he was telling everyone later in the night that he was feeling fine.
As Shane was being checked on in the ring, Randy Orton went over to Shane’s wife and sons to likely let them know that everything was going to be okay.
