Report Dismisses Rumours About AEW’s Saraya

Saraya has not departed AEW despite recent rumours.

The former AEW Women’s World Champion has not competed in an AEW ring since the 8th October edition of Dynamite. On that occasion the Norwich-born star was unsuccessful in a number one contenders bout against Jamie Hayter, Nyla Rose and eventual winner, Willow Nightingale.

Speculation about the British star’s future has been rife in recent weeks however a recent report from Fightful Select has cooled rumours of an injury or a departure from the company, with Sean Ross Sapp confirming that Saraya was simply taking some time out to focus on other projects currently:

“She’s fine. Working on some other projects after having her deal extended. Not injured as far as I know”

Saraya recently revealed shocking details behind being told to lose weight by a WWE official during an early tryout with the company.

The former Divas Champion spent 11 years with WWE after inking a developmental deal in 2011. Competing under the moniker of Paige, she would go on to be a leading light in the women’s revolution even after a serious neck injury curtailed her in-ring time with the company in 2017.

Saraya departed WWE in July 2022, signing a contract with Tony Khan’s AEW after being medically cleared to return to the ring. The star would go on to lif the AEW Women’s Championship the following year in front of a huge home country crowd at London’s Wembley Stadium at All In 2023.
