Report Confirms Brock Lesnar’s Legal Status
Brock Lesnar is back with WWE.
In the main event of SummerSlam, Cody Rhodes beat John Cena to regain the Undisputed WWE Championship. Rhodes had lost the title to Cena at WrestleMania 41 thanks to interference from Travis Scott.
In the moments after Rhodes claimed victory, Cena was confronted by Brock Lesnar, making his first WWE appearance in two years. Lesnar flattened Cena with an F-5 before leaving.
Both Cena and Lesnar are set to appear on the August 8 edition of SmackDown.
Brock Lesnar Controversy Continues
Back in January 2024, Brock Lesnar was implicated in Janel Grant’s sex trafficking lawsuit against WWE, Vince McMahon, and John Laurinaitis. According to the suit, McMahon offered Lesnar sexual encounters with Grant in an effort to get him to sign a new contract.
It should be noted that although Lesnar is named in the lawsuit, he isn’t a defendant.
A new report from Fightful Select has now attempted to clear up the confusion around Lesnar and how he came to return to WWE.
According to the report, throughout 2024, WWE employees were told not to use Lesnar or Vince McMahon in video packages or promotional materials. In addition, during this period, a potential comeback was said to be an extremely long way off, a position that’s only changed in recent weeks.
Following SummerSlam, it was noted that Lesnar had been “cleared” by WWE’s legal department, which some took to mean that he was cleared of any wrongdoing concerning Grant’s lawsuit. However, this isn’t the case.
WWE’s legal team clearing Lesnar was a business decision and doesn’t represent a legal exoneration.
In closing, Fightful referenced a statement from Janel Grant’s legal team, which hit out at WWE for bringing back Lesnar. Grant’s representative said that the move was just another attempt by WWE to “sweep misconduct under the rug.” The statement added that Grant and her team look forward to “the full set of facts, including those about Mr. Lesnar, coming out in a court of law.”
