Released WWE Star Sees Multiple Paths Back To The Company
A former WWE star believes there are multiple ways he could return to the promotion.
Back in September 2023, Mustafa Ali announced his shock exit from WWE. The news that the company had released him from his contract surprised many as it came just two days after he appeared on NXT TV, furthering a storyline involving him, Dragon Lee, and Dominik Mysterio.
Since leaving, Mustafa Ali has embarked on a World Tour Campaign that has seen him competing in the likes of TNA and NJPW as well as dozens of independent promotions. In TNA, the star reigned as the X-Division Champion for 148 days and in his last match for the company, unsuccessfully challenged Nic Nemeth for the TNA World Title.
While Ali is continuing to make an impact on the indie scene, he says he still has good relations with WWE. Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Ali also said there were “multiple paths” back to the promotion.
“I think there’s multiple paths, yeah. And the thing is there’s good relations there.
“The thing with them moving to Netflix is very, very interesting, because it just opens things.
“I don’t know how much the show is going to do. The show is going to change, as far as dynamic, as far as rating, as far as what they’re okay with.”
Mustafa Ali Found Out About WWE Money In The Bank Loss To Brock Lesnar At Last Minute
During the same interview, Mustafa Ali revealed how he found out he was losing to Brock Lesnar at Money In The Bank in 2019. Ali had originally been told he would be winning the coveted briefcase, but as he was about to make his entrance, Vince McMahon informed him that “someone” would tip him off the ladder to win the match. That someone turned out to be Brock Lesnar.
